The BLUGH: July 30, 2025

126. That’s how many days you’ve been stranded on a remote, BLUGHless island. I don’t pretend to know what you’ve felt during this time, but I hope you’re happy to see that unpronounceable word back in your email inbox. I’ve been chewing on some things I want to share with you. And you know what helps me to chew? My teeth. So let’s talk about it.
I have lived in NYC for 8 years and not until this summer did I meet a dentist that I wanted to come back and see. I have seen no less than 9 dentists, I am certain of that. Highlights include:
Dirty Shoes Dentist. How can I trust you if you have the GROSSEST shoes I’ve ever seen (AND I live in NYC!!)?
Muscular Divorced Father Dentist. I am very sorry, but I just didn’t like his vibe. He also pressured me to get my permanent retainer taken out. AND THEN asked me to marry him and help him raise his kids!!!!!!***
Child Dentist. Looked probably 13, 14 years old and was as shy and awkward as one would be a that age.
Open Toe Shoe Dentist. I’m sorry to bring it back to footwear but I didn’t like it. This dentist also had a dirty empty fish tank in the reception area. Macabre.
“If only you were prettier” Dentist: I went in for a cleaning and they tried to force Invisalign on me. Much respect to Invisaligners! Not much respect to upselling at the dentist!!!
The Pediatric Dentist: This one is not to be confused with Child Dentist (see above). A great dentist at an amazing facility. Friendly staff, great service, close to my house. Exclusively a dentist for children, I don’t know why they let me even make an appointment for myself.
***this last part did not happen.
So yeah, I’ve seen some stuff!!! Thankfully, my friend, Sarah, recommended her dentist to me. I went last week and he was 🥹perfect🥹. Normal. Nice. Immaculate closed-toe shoes. I guess it’s true what they say, “Good things come to those that tongue depressor”.

Was influenced by my friend, Kat, to buy the Wonderskin lip stain. The verdict? I love it. My lip skin is the same color of my face skin (sorry!!!!) so anything that can help with that is welcome.

This is NOT me bragging about reading East of Eden by John Steinbeck. This IS me bragging about reading East of Eden by John Steinbeck 💅twice💅.
BUT FOR REAL, I love this book a lot. I can’t wait to read it again. I’m kind of hesitant to offer even a synopsis!! I don’t want to spoil anything! I’ll give you some keywords though: family, epic, America, industry, sharp pointy teeth, evil, love, timshel.

TO WATCH
I don’t care about Wes Anderson that much. I hope that’s ok!! But I LOVED Isle of the Dogs. Watched it two weeks ago. Then watched it AGAIN a week ago. Might watch it yet again after I send this BLUGH out. It’s beautiful, it’s based in ❤️Japan❤️, it’s sweet. Have you watched it??
