The BLUGH: October 26, 2022

It never ceases to amaze me: we love ourselves more than other people but care more about their opinion than our own.
— Marcus Aurelius

Hello! The weekly BLUGH is out and you are currently reading it! No major ✨Justina Life Updates✨ to share apart from I have been trying skin cycling and it is working. I love to see a trendy fad of skincare that is actually valid and works!

I have been thinking a lot about MONEY and how some people know how to money and some people don’t know how to money. This got me thinking about RELATIONSHIPS and how some people don’t know how to relationship. This led me to think about the fact that so many great people don’t know how to family, or how to house, or how to apartment, or how to train, or how to insurance, or how to so many things. Then, walking through one of my favorite places, Greenwood Cemetery, I was struck by how all people at all times didn’t know how to do any of these things. I was comforted by this. They “made it” and I can “make it” too (whatever “making it” means). If they figured it out, I can too. And I have the magic weapon that is the internet!

One thing that I do to reassure myself is I consider where I was exactly one year before. It almost always works in calming my worries about if I am progressing or learning enough. I think it is hard to exist and not grow so if you are existing (and curious about anything), you are probably growing! And maybe you don’t know how to money right now, but next year, you could be the sage that your friends consult for all things money. NOICE.

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION

Who among us hasn’t blown out a candle and watched the smoke rise to form a vaporous candle smoke demon that haunts you for no less than three hours? Avert the demon entirely by using a WICK DIPPER. You use this dainty metal tool by dipping the wick into the hot wax and no smoke demon will appear!

BOOK RECOMMENDATION

Pretty much anything can be negotiated and as I learned from reading this book, saying, “I deserve to get what I want for the barmaid of life hath poured me a bitter brew!” does not work*. An easy-to-apply manual on negotiation, Never Split the Difference is interesting not just because of the real life applications, but because Chris Voss has some WILD stories about high stakes negotiations he performed during his time as an FBI Hostage Negotiator.

*I’ll never stop saying this

TIKTOK(s!!!)

Remember when way back last week I established that I would share no more than one TikTok per newsletter? I was younger and more foolish back then and now am wise and understand that more than one TikTok must be shared per week. Below please find your weekly BLUGH tokkies:
